Abstract: The invention discloses a polymer nanocomposite (100) engineered for deployment in high temperature and high wear applications, wherein a thermoplastic polymer matrix (101) is reinforced with ceramic-coated carbon nanotubes at a defined weight fraction. The carbon nanotube reinforcement phase (103) undergoes sequential surface functionalization and hydrothermal ceramic coating deposition prior to incorporation into the thermoplastic polymer matrix (101), ensuring enhanced interfacial compatibility and uniform nanoscale dispersion. The polymer nanocomposite (100) is fabricated through melt blending followed by compression molding under controlled process parameters. The metal oxide ceramic coating on the surface of the carbon nanotube reinforcement phase (103) acts synergistically with the reinforcement to improve interfacial stress transfer, promote crack arresting behavior, and elevate both mechanical strength and thermal stability of the polymer nanocomposite (100) beyond additive expectations. The invention provides a processing-friendly nanocomposite platform suitable for structural and tribological applications demanding performance under thermally and mechanically demanding service conditions.
