Abstract: The present disclosure provides method and system for assessing dam health. Method comprising receiving at least one image of a dam and segmenting the at least one image of the dam into dam components. Method comprising identifying at least one defect type in each segmented dam component using legacy dam data and classifying the at least one defect type in each segmented dam component based on defect priority, defect quantification, and/or defect severity. Method comprising determining a Defect Severity Index (DSI) for each segmented dam component based on the classification, using a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) weighting technique and determining a weighting factor for each segmented dam component based on at least one of defect severity and defect priority, using the MCDM weighting technique. Method comprising calculating a total DSI based on the DSI and the weighting factor associated with each segmented dam component for assessing the health of the dam. FIG. 1a
