Abstract: A METHOD AND A ROTARY MACHINE CONTROL SYSTEM FOR POSITIONING A ROTOR The present subject matter relates to a method (100) of operating a rotary machine (208) in a vehicle. The method (100) includes detecting (102) back EMF during operation of the rotary machine using a current sensing unit. The method 100 further includes estimating (104) position of the rotor based on the back EMF detected in step 102. Further, the method (100) includes recording (106) the position of the rotor estimated in the preceding step of estimating (104) upon cessation of operation of the rotary machine. Furthermore, the method (100) includes retrieving (108) the position of the rotor recorded in the non-volatile memory unit upon restarting the rotary machine. The method (100) further includes angularly aligning (110) the rotor with a stator based on the position of the rotor that is retrieved in the step of retrieving (108) the position of the rotor.
