MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441102035 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 23, 2024, for A Mechanism For Attenuating Impact Energy Of A Seating Structure Of A Vehicle.
Inventors include Siddhi Mahajan; and Vrushabnath Kavatage.
The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a mechanism (100) for attenuating impact energy of a seating structure (200) of a vehicle during a collision of the vehicle. The mechanism (100) includes a cushion pan (10) assembled on a seat frame (20) of the vehicle. The cushion pan (10) is defined by a first section (15), a second section (16) and an inclined section (17) connecting the first section and the second section. The inclined section is defined with one or more cut outs (11) having a deformable plate (12). Furthermore, the mechanism includes one or more first resilient members (13, 14) configured to connect the deformable plate to the cushion pan. The deformable plate configured to displace relative to the cushion pan during the collision and attenuate impact energy on the cushion pan by transferring impact energy to the one or more first resilient members and the deformable plate.
