MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611088251 A) filed by Manipal University Jaipur on July 20, 2026, for A Markerless Hand-Gesture Teleoperation Industrial Collaborative Robot (ur5e) With Dynamic Subset And Payload Aware Motion Regulation.
Inventors include Mr. Devdutt Patel; and Dr. Ashok Kumar Kumawat.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a vision-based robotic teleoperation system that enables intuitive and real-time control of a robotic manipulator using hand gestures captured through a standard RGB camera. The system comprises a vision acquisition unit for extracting hand-landmark coordinates, a signal derivation module for generating finger-curl and forearm-rotation signals, a network transport layer for transmitting independent control channels, and a robot controller node for generating smoothed joint-trajectory commands. A subset-selection module permits dynamic activation of selected control channels without restarting the system, while a gripper actuation module independently detects pinch gestures to operate a robotic gripper. The system further includes a diagnostics layer for logging hand-tracking data, robot states, and latency information to facilitate performance monitoring and optimization. By integrating vision-based gesture recognition, adaptive trajectory generation, runtime control-mode selection, and modular communication architecture, the invention provides an efficient, scalable, and hardware-independent solution for collaborative robot teleoperation in manufacturing, education, rehabilitation, and remote manipulation applications.
