MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621064050 A) filed by K J Somaiya School Of Engineering on May 21, 2026, for A Mandibular Bone Conduction Hearing Aid Device.

Inventors include Gangavane, Om; Pansare, Rajesh; Sainkar, Sandeep; Lekurwale, Ramesh; and Kothurkar, Rohan.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a mandibular bone conduction hearing aid device. The device transmits sound to the middle ear (malleus, incus and stapes) or cochlea in the form of vibrations through the mandibular bone. The device comprises a mobile phone configured to receive surrounding sound waves through a microphone and transmit sound signals through Bluetooth communication to a Bluetooth receiver (2) of the device. The Bluetooth receiver (2) receives the transmitted signals and operates with a rechargeable battery (1) configured to supply power for operation of the device. The received signal is supplied to an amplifier (3) configured to generate a larger output replica of the signal. The amplified signal is supplied to a vibrating motor (4) configured to generate vibrations. The electronic components are mounted within a silicon-based casing arranged to accommodate the components and position the vibrating motor (4) in contact with teeth so as to transmit vibrations through the mandibular bone toward the inner ear. The device is positioned within a dental prosthesis placed on the mandible.
