Abstract: The present invention provides a magnetically balanced dual-coil oscillator-based method and system (100) for noncontact temperature estimation of a conductive target (130) in an induction heating environment. A dual sensing coil arrangement (120), comprising two identical sensing coils (122, 124), is positioned between an induction heating coil (110) and the conductive target (130) and connected in series opposition, so that voltages induced by the induction heating coil's magnetic field substantially cancel, while the inductance variation from temperature-dependent eddy-current coupling with the target (130) remains measurable. The dual sensing coil arrangement forms part of an oscillator's circuit (140), such that its oscillation frequency varies with the effective inductance, and hence the temperature of the target (130). A frequency counter (150) measures the oscillation frequency, from which the system estimates the target's temperature using calibration parameters obtained through a one-time calibration.
