Abstract: ABSTRACT Title: A LOW-COST WIRELESS REAL-TIME AIR VS METAL SPOT DETECTOR FOR THE RESISTANCE SPOT WELDING OPERATION. The present invention discloses a system for real-time monitoring of resistance spot weld monitoring including detecting whether a resistance spot welding operation is performed on a metallic workpiece or in air. The system comprises a spot weld monitor with a clamp mechanism for detachable connection and non-invasive welding signal capture from weld surface of a workpiece in a welding machine without any structural modification thereof and a local supervisor server PC embodying a machine learning-based classification model, said supervisor server PC receives the captured welding signal and process the same to classify weld condition in the weld surface between air spots and metal spots during in real time during welding cycle.
