Abstract: ABSTRACT A LOW-COST SCALABLE DEVICE FOR NANO / MICRO METAL PARTICLE PRODUCTION A device for nano/micro metal particle production comprises a solenoid actuator (11) driving an axial solid shaft mover (12) in self-sustaining oscillatory motion through cooperative permanent bar magnets (PBM-1, PBM-2, PBM-3), restoring spiral spring (13), vibration absorbing spiral spring (15), and rubber damper. A lever arm (18), pivoted on a bearing fulcrum (28), mechanically couples the shaft mover (12) to a cylindrical tool electrode (27), urged toward a submerged work part target by permanent bar magnet (PBM-4) and balanced by spiral spring (25). The work part target is positioned via an XYZ micro-positioner (17) within a dielectric tank (16), establishing a predetermined inter- electrode gap acting as a magnetic switching mechanism (29). The gap cyclically switches power source (14) current through the solenoid coil, generating repeated micro-plasma discharges that melt and evaporate work part material, producing nano/micro metal particles within the dielectric medium.
