MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511091618 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Banaras on September 24, 2025, for A Low-Cost Dual-Band Metasurface-Based Circularly Polarized Patch Antenna.

Abstract: The present invention provides a low-cost dual-band metasurface-based circularly polarized patch antenna (100) comprises at least two metasurface layers (1, 2). The metasurface layers include a first metasurface layer (1) and a second metasurface layer (2). The first metasurface layer (1) has a square ring array (4) on a substrate functioning as a superstrate layer and said second metasurface layer (2) has a plurality of square elements featuring hexagonal slots (5) released on another substrate and said second metasurface layer (2) is positioned above said first metasurface layer (1) with an air gap (6) and facilitates radiation in the higher frequency band. The low- cost dual-band metasurface-based circularly polarized patch antenna include a cross-slot etched (7) onto a truncated-corner square patch (3) and constructed on another substrate backed by a ground plane.
