The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: This invention relates to alkali-activated mortar that includes ground granulated blast furnace slag (ggbfs) and Flyash (FA) as its precursor material, along with anhydrous alkali activators including sodium metasilicate and sodium carbonate. This study investigates the impact of the water/binder (w/b) ratio and the sodium metasilicate-to-sodium carbonate ratio on the hardened and durability properties of mortar. To investigate the effect of these variations, nine formulations were prepared using W/B ratios of 0.35, 0.40, & 0.45, and sodium metasilicate: sodium carbonate ratios of 1:0, 0.75:0.25, and 0.50:0.50. The mortars obtained had the 56-day compressive strengths of 54.12 to 69.12 MPa, with a maximum value of 69.12 MPa at a water/binder ratio of 0.40 and activator ratio of 0.75:0.25, respectively. Water absorption was found to be ranged from 5.50% to 9.33%, with most of the formulations showing only small changes after 5 wetting/drying cycles. Compression Strength test after alternate wetting-drying test revealed that M5 performed well with only 31.06% strength loss, which is the lowest strength loss among all. Under 5% sulfuric-acid exposure, strength loss increased with exposure duration, ranging from 35.03–67.95% at 30 days and 80.78–94.85% at 90 days, demonstrating the influence of formulations on acid resistance. The results confirm the importance of the anhydrous activator composition and water/binder ratio for achieving optimal mechanical and durability properties in AAMs. This invention offers a practical dry-mix geopolymer system for different applications and environmental conditions, offering a sustainable alternative to conventional OPC mortars.
