Abstract: Abstract A Locking Mechanism for an Axial Fan with Adjustable Pitch Employing a Toothed Hub, Hub Back Cover, and Half-Ring Radial Spacer A locking mechanism for an axial fan blade with adjustable pitch is disclosed. The mechanism comprises a rotor hub (4) having seven cylindrically shaped through slots, each receiving a fan blade hub (9) that carries cylindrical grooves on its outer surface and teethed slots on its bottom portion. A hub back cover (12) secured to the rear face of the rotor hub (4) by bolts (11) and nuts (13) comprises an integral half ring engaging said cylindrical grooves to arrest radial movement of the fan blade (2), and a clearance that enables said teethed slots to rotate freely without friction within the assembled hub back cover (12). A half ring spacer (7) inserted from the back side into the cylindrical portion of the fan blade hub (9) and rotated into position mates with the hub back cover (12) to provide complete 360-degree cylindrical radial support. An angle positioner ring (8) secured by fixing screws (10) at the front of the rotor hub (4) carries teeth that mesh with said teethed slots to lock the fan blade (2) at a set stagger angle, the stagger angle being adjustable in increments of one degree to five degrees or more per tooth step. Blade pitch is adjustable in situ by removing the hub front cover (5), removing the angle positioner ring (8), rotating the fan blade (2) to the required stagger angle, and refitting the angle positioner ring (8), without removing the fan blade from the rotor hub (4) and without disturbing the hub back cover (12) or the half ring spacer (7).
