Abstract: The present invention relates to a liposomal topical gel formulation comprising Caspofungin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for enhanced antifungal therapy. The formulation comprises Caspofungin-loaded phospholipid liposomes incorporated into a Carbopol-based gel matrix containing suitable humectants, preservatives, and pH-adjusting agents. The liposomes are prepared by a thin-film hydration method followed by sonication or membrane extrusion to obtain nanosized vesicles exhibiting high drug entrapment efficiency and improved physical stability. The resulting gel provides enhanced skin penetration, prolonged retention of the drug within infected tissues, and sustained drug release over approximately 12–24 hours. The formulation demonstrates desirable physicochemical characteristics, including vesicle size of about 100–250 nm, polydispersity index below 0.30, and high encapsulation efficiency.
