MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611089919 A) filed by Chitkara University on July 23, 2026, for A Lipid-Polymer Hybrid Nanoparticle Composition For Crispr Delivery With Interchangeable Ligand- Adapter Interface.

Inventors include Dr. Sonia Dhiman; Dr. Shareen Singh; and Dr. Thakur Gurjeet Singh.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to lipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticle composition (100) is disclosed for intracellular delivery of CRISPR cargo (160). The composition includes a biodegradable polymeric core (110) containing a cargo-stabilizing microdomain (112), a pH-responsive interfacial belt (114), and an ionizable lipid shell (120). A cleavable polyethylene glycol layer (130) provides circulation shielding, while an endosomal escape component (140) promotes cargo release under endosomal conditions. An interchangeable ligand-adapter interface (150) receives a targeting ligand (170) after formation of the nanoparticle, thereby permitting retargeting without reformulating the biodegradable polymeric core (110). The composition further includes a verification assembly (180) for confirming particle size, surface charge, encapsulation, ligand attachment, and structural integrity. Coordinated PEG cleavage, protonation of the interfacial belt, fusogenic lipid activity, and controlled cargo release improve cytosolic availability while limiting premature leakage. The nanoparticle is formulated within a defined size, dispersity, surface-charge, and ligand-density range suitable for reproducible manufacture, storage. (Accompanied Figure No. 1 to 4)
