The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hybrid natural-fibre reinforced epoxy composite comprising pineapple fibre and sisal fibre as reinforcing materials and an epoxy resin as a matrix material for producing lightweight automotive structural and semi-structural components. The composite comprises prepared pineapple and sisal fibres that are cleaned, dried, cut, weighed, and arranged in predetermined reinforcing layers before being impregnated with an epoxy resin and hardener mixture. The fibre layers are consolidated under controlled compression and temperature conditions to form a substantially integrated hybrid composite laminate. The developed composite provides a combination of the mechanical characteristics of pineapple and sisal fibres within a common polymer matrix, thereby providing a lightweight alternative to conventional materials used in automotive applications. The composite further enables evaluation of tensile, flexural and impact characteristics to determine its suitability for structural applications. The hybrid fibre arrangement facilitates load transfer between the reinforcing fibres and the epoxy matrix, while the consolidated laminate configuration provides structural integrity and reduced material weight. The invention thereby provides a renewable natural-fibre based composite material configured to reduce dependence on conventional synthetic reinforcement and provide a lightweight material option for automotive structural and semi-structural applications.
