MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611079365 A) filed by Madan Mohan Malaviya University Of Technology on June 27, 2026, for A Lightweight Honeycomb Uav Frame Design For Enhanced Strength, Cooling Performance And Flight Endurance.

Inventors include Sumit Singh; Dr. Jeeoot Singh; and Dr. Sanjay Kumar Soni.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a highly lightweight, high-endurance unmanned aerial vehicle frame (100) incorporating a multi- functional geometric core to optimize structural stiffness, reduce dead weight, and provide passive convective thermal management. The frame (100) comprises a central structural body (102) holding an integrated honeycomb lattice structure (104) formed by an array of thin-walled interconnected hexagonal cells (106) defining vertical open internal airflow pathways (108). Symmetrically extending arms (110a, 110b, 110c, 110d) sweep outward from the central core to form an X-type quadcopter configuration having a total frame width of 342.15 millimeters, a left arm (112) length of 228.14 millimeters, and a right arm (114) length of 255.00 millimeters. An elevated battery and electronics mounting platform (118) suspended by support pillars (120) houses electronic speed controllers (122) and a flight controller (124). Propeller downwash air passes freely through the airflow pathways (108), providing efficient passive cooling while the cellular matrix safely minimizes strain displacement and limits peak Von Mises stresses.
