Abstract: ABSTRACT “A LEAD-FREE HIGH-TEMPERATURE GLAZE FOR CERAMIC TUBES IN STEEL CASTING” The invention relates to a lead-free ceramic glaze composition for coating ceramic tubes in high-temperature molten steel casting applications. The composition includes 20-25% quartz, 30-35% feldspar, 8-13% clay, 2- 6% dolomite and calcite, 3-7% talc, 10-20% high-temperature bonding cement with 96% alumina, 10-20% zirconium silicate, and 1-5% of barium carbonate, zinc oxide, and bentonite. The glaze provides high mechanical strength, low porosity, and chemical resistance to alkaline slags. High-temperature bonding cement effectively reduces porosity, preventing metal entrapment during the casting process. Additionally, zirconium silicate improves chemical durability and provides excellent resistance to slag attack, making the glaze highly suitable for use in molten steel casting applications. The application method ensures uniform glaze thickness on long ceramic tubes, and the glaze exhibits minimal weight loss and slag penetration during testing at 1600°C.
