MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621090602 A) filed by Apurva Sunil Ramteke on July 24, 2026, for A Laboratory Bioassay Method For Evaluating Chlorpyrifos Toxicity On Growth Of Rice Field Cyanobacterium From Nagpur Region.
Inventor includes Apurva Sunil Ramteke.
The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.
Abstract: The present invention laboratory multi-endpoint bioassay determines chlorpyrifos toxicity to rice-field cyanobacteria under controlled conditions. A unialgal, exponentially growing cyanobacterial culture is maintained in nitrogen-free BG-11 medium at pH 5, 28 +/- 2 degrees Celsius and 3000 lux under a sixteen-hour light and eight-hour dark cycle. One millilitre of culture is inoculated into twenty millilitres of medium containing 0, 25, 50, 75 or 100 ppm chlorpyrifos. Samples are analysed on days 0, 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20. Growth is measured at 540 nm, biomass is recovered by centrifugation, carbohydrate response is measured by a phenol- sulphuric acid reaction at 450 nm, and protein is measured by an alkaline copper-Folin reaction at 540 nm. Treated results are compared with the corresponding untreated control to generate a dose-time toxicity profile. The disclosed data identify 100 ppm as the greatest adverse exposure and enable comparative ranking of cyanobacterial tolerance entirely within separate sterile laboratory vessels.
