The key fob unit (102) has a battery (110) and a transceiver unit. The key fob unit (102) has one or more input units (108) for generating an input, and the input corresponds to the at least one operation of the vehicle (10). The key fob unit (102) has a controller assembly (104) to receive the input from a user on the one or more input units (108), alter an advertisement interval and a transmission power of an advertising signal and transmit the advertising signal with the altered advertisement interval and the altered transmission power to the vehicle (10).
