MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621101166 A) filed by Mr. Mohammad Imran Anees; Dr. Mirza Shahed Baig; and Subur Khan Wadood Khan on August 21, 2026, for A Hydroalcoholic Topical Herbal Cream Comprising Euphorbia Thymifolia L. Extract For Antimicrobial Applications.
Inventors include Mr. Mohammad Imran Anees; Dr. Mirza Shahed Baig; and Subur Khan Wadood Khan.
The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hydroalcoholic topical herbal cream comprising Euphorbia thymifolia L. extract for antimicrobial applications. The invention provides a plant-based topical formulation developed by extracting selected plant material of Euphorbia thymifolia L. using a hydroalcoholic solvent system comprising alcohol and water. The extracted phytoconstituents are recovered through filtration and controlled concentration and subsequently incorporated into a suitable topical cream base. The cream base may comprise pharmaceutically acceptable excipients including emulsifying agents, emollients, humectants, consistency modifiers, stabilizers, preservatives, and other formulation-compatible components. Controlled mixing and homogenization facilitate substantially uniform distribution of the herbal extract throughout the cream matrix. The resulting formulation provides a convenient semisolid preparation for topical application and utilization of plant-derived bioactive constituents. The developed herbal cream may be evaluated for physicochemical characteristics including appearance, colour, odour, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, consistency, spreadability, extrudability, and stability. The antimicrobial performance may be assessed against selected microorganisms using suitable microbiological methods such as agar diffusion, well diffusion, or broth dilution techniques. The hydroalcoholic extraction process facilitates recovery of phytochemical constituents that may contribute to antimicrobial activity. The invention therefore provides an integrated extraction and topical formulation approach for utilizing Euphorbia thymifolia L. as a botanical source for antimicrobial preparations. The formulation may be further optimized with respect to extract concentration, cream-base composition, stability, and antimicrobial performance, thereby providing a standardized and convenient herbal topical cream for intended antimicrobial applications.
