The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention concerns a Ni-P plating bath composition suitable for an electroless nickel coating for metallic substrates which provides a uniform, adherent nickel coating which will provide protection against wear or corrosion without requiring the application of an external electrical current. Nickel plating baths consist of nickel sulphate, hydrazine hydrate (a reducing agent), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA - as a complexing agent), sodium hydroxide (a pH agent), potassium hydrogen phosphate (a buffering agent and stabilizer for the bath) and water. The metallic substrate is pretreated and dipped in the plating bath, which is heated at the desired temperature of 70°C to 90°C and is preferably around 80°C, where the controlled electroless nickel deposition takes place. This optimized composition of the bath ensures the bath stability, uniform deposition rate, even coating thickness, excellent adhesion, hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. The invention can be used to coat surfaces of metal parts of both simple and complex geometries, and can be used in surface engineering applications in vehicle manufacturing, aerospace, electronics, mechanical and machine tool, marine, and other industrial applications.
