Abstract: Disclosed herein is a hybrid neutral point clamped dual active bridge (HNPC DAB) converter system (100) for power conversion. The HNPC DAB converter system (100) comprises a primary bridge (144) configured to receive an input DC voltage. The primary bridge (144) comprises a first switching branch (146) and a second switching branch (148). A secondary bridge (150) is configured to provide an output DC voltage, and a transformer (130) coupled therebetween. The HNPC DAB converter system (100) comprises semiconductor switches arranged in the switching branches, a diode clamp arrangement establishing a neutral point clamping function, a flying capacitor (112) for balancing voltages, and a DC blocking capacitor (128) establishing selectable voltage offset across a primary winding (152). The semiconductor switches, diode clamp arrangement, flying capacitor (112), and DC blocking capacitor (128) are arranged in an asymmetric neutral point clamped configuration to generate different voltage levels across the primary winding (152).
