The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a hybrid thermal management apparatus (10) for cooling heat-generating electronic devices by integrating a liquid-cooled cold plate with one or more enclosed phase change material (PCM) chambers (16). The apparatus comprises a thermally conductive cold plate body (20) having a heat transfer surface (24), one or more coolant flow passages (18) extending between a coolant inlet port (12) and a coolant outlet port (14), and at least one PCM chamber (16) disposed in thermal communication with the coolant flow passages. During operation, heat generated by an electronic device is simultaneously dissipated through convective heat transfer to a circulating coolant and latent heat absorption by the phase change material. The PCM absorbs excess thermal energy during transient, cyclic, or pulsed heat loads and releases the stored heat during reduced thermal loading, thereby reducing peak operating temperatures and improving thermal stability. The invention provides enhanced transient cooling performance with reduced pumping power requirements and is suitable for processors, graphics processing units, artificial intelligence accelerators, power electronic modules, battery systems, data centres, aerospace electronics, and other high-power electronic applications.
