MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611040637 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi on March 31, 2026, for A Hybrid Edge-Computing System And Method For Real-Time Swine Facial Detection.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a hybrid edge-computing system (100) and method for real-time swine facial detection comprising a mobile computing device (101). The mobile computing device (101) include a processor (102), a local storage unit (103), a camera (104) and a user interface (105). The mobile device captures and stores images/video, utilizes a discovery module to connect with the edge unit. The hybrid edge-computing system (100) intelligently selects between local inference and offloading processing to the edge unit, which runs a deep learning model for swine facial detection and then the local dashboard visualizes results. The hybrid edge- computing system (100) processes between the mobile device and the local edge unit and reduces power consumption, enhances computational efficiency, and ensures autonomous offline operation, suitable for farm environments with limited connectivity. The hybrid edge-computing system (100) optimizes the balance between detection accuracy and latency. Figure 1 on sheet no. 1 of the drawings may accompany the abstract when published.
