Abstract: ABSTRACT Title: A hybrid coating material composition for the control of biofouling in cultural heritage artefacts A hybrid coating formulation for controlling biofouling of subjects including heritage artefacts and the like comprising a co-acting stable chitosan@ZC hydrogel combination comprising of a) chitosan hydrogel in amounts of 90-98 % by wt and b) biosurfactant coated and stabilized ZnO/CuO nanoparticles in amounts of 0.25 to 10 % by wt. preferably 6 wt% wherein said biosurfactant coat include a selected combination of surfactin and rhamnolipid with a concentration in 0.05 to 1 wt% ranging from 1.5 to 3.5* critical miceller concentration (CMC) having stability of 24 months and upto 36 months. inhibit the growth of both gram negative (E. coli) and gram positive (M. luteus) bacteria and exhibits anti fouling property against filamentous green algae.
