Abstract: ABSTRACT A Horizontal Constant Head Permeameter for Layered and Inclined Soils A horizontal constant head permeameter (100) for determining permeability of layered and inclined soils comprises a soil chamber (101) adapted to contain at least one layer of soil specimen for determining permeability of layered and inclined soils. An inlet chamber (102) and an outlet chamber (103) provided at opposite sides of the soil chamber (101) such that to establish horizontal flow path through the soil chamber (101). A vertical Perspex cylindrical pipe (104 A and B) mounted on the inlet chamber (102) and outlet chamber (103). A seal cap (105) mounted atop the soil chamber (101) to provide fluid-tight closure. At least one piezometer (106) placed at intervals along the flow path of the soil chamber (101) to measure head loss profile through the soil specimen. An overhead open container (107) connected via inlet pipe (108) to the inlet chamber (102) and adapted to supply water at constant head.
