Abstract: ABSTRACT A HERBAL FORMULATION FOR DIABETIC FOOT ULCER AND A METHOD THEREOF The present invention provides a novel herbal topical gel formulation for treating diabetic foot ulcers and a method of preparation thereof. The formulation comprises an 80% ethanolic extract of Jasminum grandiflorum, Cassia fistula, Achyranthes aspera, and Triphala in a 1:1:1:1 ratio, where Triphala consists of equal parts of Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellirica, and Phyllanthus emblica. The method involves preparing dry powder from ethanol-extracted plant materials using a soxhlet extractor or accelerated solvent extractor, followed by solvent evaporation. The gel formulation is prepared by dispersing Carbopol 974NF polymer in deionized water, incorporating a preservative solution of methyl and propyl paraben, and mixing the herbal extract powder with ethanol and glycerine. The final formulation's pH is adjusted to 4.5-5.5 using triethanol amine. This novel formulation combines traditional herbal medicine with modern pharmaceutical techniques to create an effective treatment for diabetic foot ulcers.
