Inventors include Mahesh Vasantrao Kulkarni; and Deepak Popat Hujare.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: A HELMHOLTZ MUFFLER The present disclosure provides a Helmholtz muffler (100). The Helmholtz muffler (100) comprises a muffler shell (102) defining an exhaust flow passage (108) extending between an exhaust inlet pipe (110) and an exhaust outlet pipe (116). A plurality of Helmholtz resonator chambers (104-1, 104-2, 104-3) communicates with the exhaust flow passage (108) through respective resonator necks (106-1, 106-2, 106-3). A piston assembly (114) is operatively associated with the plurality of Helmholtz resonator chambers (104-1, 104-2, 104-3) to vary cavity volumes. A centrifugal governor (120) is mechanically coupled to the piston assembly (114) through a governor linkage mechanism (118). The centrifugal governor (120) converts engine rotational speed into linear displacement and transmits the linear displacement through the governor linkage mechanism (118) to actuate the piston assembly (114), thereby varying the cavity volumes and modifying corresponding resonant frequencies for exhaust noise attenuation.
