MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511087618 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Banaras on September 15, 2025, for A Handheld Micro-Imaging Device.

Inventors include Pranjal Chandra; Supratim Mahapatra; and Arkya Jyoti Ghosh.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a handheld micro-imaging device (100) comprises a housing (101), an illumination unit (102), an optical unit (103) and an optimization unit (104). The illumination unit (102) is mounted on the housing (101) to direct light towards a sample that is positioned on a sample holder (207) of the illumination unit (102). The illumination unit (102) includes a plurality of motors and plurality of motors include a first motor (205) that is move sample holder (207) in a horizontal direction and a second motor (203) that is move sample holder (207) in lateral direction. The optical unit (103) focus the light from the target sample onto a camera module (212). The optimization unit (104) include a control unit which is configured to real-time processing of a captured image via the camera module (212) for high-precision imaging at the microscopic scale.
