Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for reducing current Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) in grid-connected solar inverters independent of voltage distortion. The system, which includes a photovoltaic (PV) source interfaced with a front-end inverter-based off-board EV charger, effectively manages dynamic source and load changes. Positioned at a common AC interface point (ACIP), it connects to a utility grid and nonlinear load. Key components include an inductance (Lg), diode bridge rectifier (DBR), and passive filter (Lf). The system's angular frequency is managed by the selected inductance, optimizing power extraction. The system and method includes decomposing grid voltage and load currents into d-axis and q-axis components for precise harmonic compensation. Adaptive control and filtering techniques are employed to maintain power quality bolstering grid stability and optimizing EV charging performance.
