The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention disclosed is a topical pharmaceutical composition comprising a glycyrrhetic acid-loaded oil-in-water microemulsion incorporated in a dual- polymer gel matrix. The microemulsion contains glycyrrhetic acid, Capryol 90, Cremophor EL and Labrasol as non-ionic surfactants, Transcutol P as co-surfactant, and purified water. The gel matrix contains konjac glucomannan and Carbopol 940 and is neutralized with sodium hydroxide to pH 5.5–6.5. The microemulsion provides nanoscale solubilization of glycyrrhetic acid, while the gel matrix imparts pseudoplastic flow, spreadability, bioadhesion and controlled diffusion. The optimized formulation exhibits a mean droplet size of 25.07±2.18 nm, encapsulation efficiency of 98.10±2.27%, pH of 5.98±0.31, and cumulative release of 83.9±1.12% over 24 hours. The composition provides sustained topical delivery, increased skin retention and reduced psoriasis-associated inflammatory responses in an imiquimod-induced mouse model. (Reference Fig 1)
