Abstract: Abstract A GLYCEROL FREE BIO-BASED POLYURETHANE FOAM COMPOSITION AND THE METHOD OF PREPARATION THEREOF [00121] The present invention relates to a glycerol free bio-based polyurethane foam composition. he present invention relates to a glycerol-free, bio-based polyurethane foam comprising castor oil and polyethylene glycol (PEG 400), developed for sustainable packaging and insulation applications. Conventional castor oil-based polyurethane foams may suffer from surface oil migration, resulting in tackiness, poor handling, and reduced structural stability. The invention addresses this limitation through optimized formulation and controlled isocyanate-to-hydroxyl (NCO) ratio, promoting improved incorporation of castor-oil-derived components into the polyurethane network without requiring external crosslinking agents such as glycerol. Water is used as a blowing agent, enabling foam formation under ambient or near-ambient conditions. The resulting foam exhibits a dry, non-tacky surface, stable cellular structure, adequate mechanical strength, and thermal stability. The glycerol-free formulation reduces processing complexity while maintaining high renewable content, providing a scalable and environmentally preferable alternative to conventional petroleum-based foams for protective packaging, cushioning, insulation, and logistics applications.
