Abstract: The invention provides a gaze-controlled AAC device tailored for ICU patients who cannot communicate verbally due to conditions like tracheostomy, paralysis, or mechanical ventilation. It enables users to communicate using only eye movements through an intuitive interface with dwell-based activation and speech synthesis. The communication options are specially designed based on an in-depth study of the ICU environment and patient-caregiver interaction needs. In addition to essential communication, the system also offers entertainment features such as music listening and video streaming, helping improve the overall ICU experience and reduce psychological stress for patients.
