Abstract: The present invention relates to the development of a gastro-retentive raft system loaded with solid dispersions of Triphala extract, designed to enhance its bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy for treating peptic ulcers. The solid dispersion of Triphala extract is prepared using Eudragit EPO to increase solubility and dissolution. The raft system, formulated with sodium alginate, calcium carbonate, and sodium bicarbonate, prolongs the retention of the extract in the stomach by forming a buoyant gel. Additionally, probiotics, such as Lactobacillus acidophilus, are incorporated to improve gut health and enhance the healing process of ulcers. The synergistic combination of Triphala extract, probiotics, and prebiotics such as Psyllium husk contributes to a dual therapeutic effect, addressing both ulcer treatment and digestive health. This invention offers an innovative, natural, and effective solution for gastrointestinal disorders, particularly peptic ulcers, by integrating Ayurvedic medicine with modern drug delivery systems.
