MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611066094 A) filed by Nims University Rajasthan, Jaipur on May 26, 2026, for A Functional Animal Feed.

Inventor includes B Gyani Priyanka Patnaik.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: A polyherbal nano-feed supplement composition (100) for reducing microplastic and nanoplastic contamination in animals. The composition comprises a hepatoprotective core containing extracts of Curcuma longa and Phyllanthus emblica, a chelating module comprising chitosan and cyclodextrin for sequestration of plastic particles, a nanotechnology delivery module including a lipid-based nanoemulsion having a particle size of 50-150 nm and a pH responsive alginate-chitosan nanogel, and a gut microbiome modulator comprising plastic-degrading Bacillus probiotics and microbial enzymes selected from lipase, esterase, and depolymerase. The composition further comprises a grain-derived functional feed base and provides sustained release of active components within the gastrointestinal tract for sequestration, biodegradation, and detoxification of plastic contaminants. The invention further discloses a low temperature preparation method involving nanoemulsion formation, nanogel cross-linking, blending below 45°C, and cold- extrusion pelletization for preserving biological activity and probiotic viability.
