Abstract: The current model is an approach for evaluating and understanding recovery and meaning making in adult survivors of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) in India through a multidimensional non-linear framework. The framework is based on grounded theory methodology that is based on qualitative analysis of narratives from 20 participants; wherein recovery is conceptualized as dynamic, cyclical and non-linear. The model considers multiple domains like early contextual conditions, internal and external meaning making processes, relational experiences, and socio-cultural influences to create a thorough understanding of recovery processes. Adverse childhood experiences, gendered vulnerabilities, and cultural silence are examples of early conditions that interact with ongoing processes of narrative reconstruction, shame negotiation and validation seeking to shape recovery and meaning making. The framework employs a processing mechanism to identify patterns of oscillation between phases of silence and voicing out, shame and validation, and acceptance and denial. The framework further takes into consideration socio-cultural factors including family honor, stigma, and community support, which significantly influences the process of meaning making and recovery. The invention identifies recovery as an ongoing negotiation between identity, agency, and meaning making, which further enables personalized insights and intervention plans. The framework is applicable in clinical settings, facilitating trauma informed assessments, intervention designs and policy making.
