MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611113784 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology, Uttarakhand on September 23, 2026, for A Foldable Spike Tooth Harrow Having A Geometry-Based Interference-Free Spike Arrangement.

Inventors include Dr. Vinod Singh Yadav; Ashutosh Avdhesh Kumar Singh; Vikas Kumar; and Dr. Shashi Narayan.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a lightweight foldable spike tooth harrow for secondary tillage including soil pulverization, and surface levelling. The harrow comprises a central frame (01), left and right foldable wing frames (03(a), 03(b)), hinge assemblies (02(a), 02(b)), spike teeth (05), reinforcing members (04), and a hitching frame (06). The spike-tooth arrangement is coordinated with the folding mechanism, wherein the longitudinal and transverse positions of the spike teeth (05) are selected relative to the hinge axes and folding trajectories to maintain clearance and prevent collision during folding and unfolding. The spike teeth (05) are in a staggered configuration enabling interleaving or nesting within available spaces of the central frame (01). The wing frames (03(a), 03(b)) fold inwardly to reduce transportation width, while mechanical locking provisions may secure the working configuration. The lightweight construction improves portability and manoeuvrability, particularly in hilly, terraced, and narrow agricultural fields.
