Abstract: ABSTRACT [0027] The aim of this research is to investigate the impact performance of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) composite laminates under low- velocity impact conditions, with a focus on understanding impact response, damage initiation, and propagation behavior for two stacking configurations. The laminates were fabricated using the hand lay-up technique with E-glass fabric and epoxy resin, followed by controlled curing to ensure proper bonding and uniformity. The specimens were subjected to low-velocity impact testing at 3, 4 and 5 m/sec impact velocities to simulate real-life conditions such as accidental drops and tool impacts. The experimental evaluation included analysis of energy absorption capacity under varying impact conditions. The results showed that fiber orientation significantly influences the impact resistance and energy absorption behavior of the laminates, with optimized orientations exhibiting improved performance. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the effect of fiber orientation and impact energy on GFRP laminates, contributing to the design and optimization of impact-resistant composite structures for advanced engineering applications.
