Abstract: The present invention relates to a dual-stage metering billet planter (100). The dual-stage metering billet planter (100) includes a main frame (102), a hopper (104), a hopper floor conveyor (106), a singulation mechanism (108), an excess billets return mechanism (114), and a delivery conveyor (120). The hopper (104) is mounted vertically on the main frame (102) and receives billet. The hopper floor conveyor (106) receives the billets. The billets from the upper metering wheel (110) fall to the lower metering wheel (112). The excess billets from the lower metering wheels (112) are picked by the plates (118) of the vertical rising elevator (116) that delivers the excess billets back to the hopper (104). The delivery conveyor (120) receives a single billet from the lower metering wheel (112) and drops the single billet on the ground.
