MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641064522 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology Tiruchirappalli on May 21, 2026, for A Dual-Robot Ceiling Maintenance System Using Zero Pressure Difference Suction.
Inventors include Hamsavarthini S; Dharani S; and Dr. Rajesh V.
The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a dual-robot autonomous ceiling-cleaning system designed to safely, efficiently, and non-destructively clean ceiling surfaces in indoor environments. The system comprises two physically distinct but cooperatively operating robotic units, namely VertiDock and VertiClean, which together enable wall climbing, ceiling attachment, autonomous cleaning, and controlled retrieval. VertiDock is configured as a wall-climbing deployment robot with a foldable, laptop-style structure. It is responsible for transporting VertiClean from the ground level to the wall–ceiling junction. VertiDock uses controlled adhesion and locomotion mechanisms to climb vertical surfaces and position itself accurately at the corner where the wall meets the ceiling. Upon reaching the target location, VertiDock opens its folding structure and activates a mechanical docking and alignment mechanism that assists VertiClean in attaching securely to the ceiling surface.
