MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641085074 A) filed by Cmr College Of Pharmacy on July 11, 2026, for A Dual-Release Multiparticulate Pharmaceutical Formulation For Metabolic Disorders And A Method Of Preparation Thereof.

Inventors include Dr. N. Madhavi; Mrs. Lahari; and Dr. Madhuri.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: [065] The present disclosure relates to a dual-release multiparticulate pharmaceutical formulation for chronotherapeutic treatment of metabolic disorders and a process thereof. The formulation comprises a first population of immediate-release multiparticulates configured to provide rapid therapeutic action and a second population of delayed-release multiparticulates configured to release one or more anti-metabolic disorder active pharmaceutical ingredients after a predetermined lag period corresponding to circadian metabolic variations. The delayed-release multiparticulates comprise one or more rate-controlling and pH-dependent polymeric coatings for achieving biphasic drug release. The multiparticulates may be formulated as pellets, granules, beads, mini-tablets, or microspheres enclosed within capsules or compressed into tablets. The process includes preparing immediate-release and delayed- release multiparticulates, coating drug-loaded cores, combining the multiparticulates in predetermined ratios, and incorporating the combination into a unit oral dosage form. The formulation improves therapeutic efficacy, patient compliance, and synchronized drug delivery for management of metabolic disorders.
