The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: An electric parking brake 100 for a vehicle includes a set of motor gear units 102 fixed with dual piston calipers 104 of the vehicle; and a set of shifting plates 106 operatively coupled to the motor gear units 102 through a lead screw 112 such that actuating the motor gear units 102 in a first direction causes the shifting plates 106 to engage with a pair of pistons 108 of the corresponding dual piston caliper 104 to linearly move the pair of pistons 108 towards the rotor disc 150 to cause the associated brake pads 110 to engage with the rotor disc 150 to prevent rotation thereof, thereby preventing the vehicle from moving from the parked position. Engagement of the shifting plate 106 with the collars of the pistons 108 allows independent operation of the electric parking brake and the service brake.
