The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.
Abstract: A DRILL MACHINE FOR SALAMANDER TAPPING IN A BLAST FURNACE A drill machine for salamander tapping in a blast furnace pertains to ironmaking and the steel industry, especially involving metallurgical and mechanical engineering systems used in blast furnace operations. The invention addresses the problem of inefficient, unsafe salamander-tapping processes that require extended operating time and limit drilling capability. The drill machine comprises a rotation motor (101), a winch or feed motor (102), a mast (104), a hydraulic cylinder (107), drill rods (108), a drill bit (109), a controller/ pneumatic control unit (110), and a hammering unit/ pneumatic hammer (111), configured to perform rotary and percussive drilling. The invention enables controlled drilling through multiple furnace layers and facilitates efficient drainage of molten metal. The invention overcomes existing prior art by enabling continuous, precise, and efficient drilling through all furnace layers using a pneumatically operated system.
