The drain plug assembly includes a housing (202), a first stopper plate (204) and a second stopper plate (206) disposed coaxially in the housing (202). The first stopper plate (204) is positioned below the second stopper plate (206) and disposed with a first opening (208) and a second opening (210) respectively. A plurality of outlets (218) formed on the housing (202) and positioned between the first stopper plate (204) and the second stopper plate (206) in the housing (202). The floater (212) is slidably disposed inside the housing (202) and adapted to slide axially in the housing (202) to selectively block the first opening (208) and the second opening (210) upon application of buoyant force on the floater (212) and facilitates in egress of water through the plurality of outlets (218) from the housing (202).
