MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441071573 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on March 22, 2025, for A Device For Timed Compression Of Arteriovenous Fistula Needle Sites Post-Dialysis.

Inventors include Veena Nk; Ravindra Prabhu A; G Arun Maiya; Indu Ramachandra Rao; Anupama Pavithran; Shibu Chameettac Hal; and Najathulla Bhagavathi Chalil.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The Built into the band is a 12-hour digital time and alarm which is used in counting the hours the band is being used on the fistula hand and in giving out a beep when the time is right to release pressure so as not to compress vein to a point of causing damage. Also, there is a required use of an anti-compression bandage in order to stop bleeding and to enhance the treatment outcomes and to prevent certain complications that can occur, such as infection or hematoma. Success of this design also eradicates the inconveniences of using the traditional AVF compression devices to improve the post-dialysis experience to increase the life expectancy of the arteriovenous fistulas which are vital in the continuous treatment of kidney diseases.
