Abstract: The present invention relates to a device (10) suitable for integration into a sanitary pad for the detection of biomarkers in menstruation blood, comprising a main body with a sample collection zone A and a test zone B, wherein the sample collection zone A comprises a collection reservoir (12) with a bottom portion and a top portion, and the test zone B comprises a slot (14) along the longitudinal axis of the main body having a slot opening that is oriented towards the collection reservoir (12), and wherein said slot (14) is configured to receive a lateral flow assay (34), and wherein said slot (14) is in fluidic connection (16) with the collection reservoir (12), characterized in that said device (10) additionally comprises a sample volume control unit (18) which is configured to automatically interrupt the fluidic connection (16) upon reaching a predefined volume of fluid, wherein the interruption mechanism responds directly to the sampled volume without requiring manual adjustment.
