MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531029019 A) filed by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited on March 27, 2025, for A Device And Process For Evaluation Of Leakage Current In An Insulation Of Electrical Equipment.

Inventors include Mritunjay Kumar; Hari R; and Dr. M Mohana Rao.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device and process for evaluation of leakage current in an insulation of electrical equipment (14), comprising a current sensing device (12) installed on the earth terminal side (06) of equipment wherein a data acquisition and processing unit (03) connected with the sensing device output. Further, a shielded differential probe (07) is implemented to transfer the sensed data from the sensing device to the data acquisition and processing unit. An earth lead (01) is fixed inside the sensing device and carries the generated leakage current to the earth or ground terminal. Sensor unit (02) supported by sensor housing (02a) is placed around the earth lead (01). Fast-Transient Surge Generation Device (FTSGD) (08) to generate rapidly changing voltage pulses (15) which electrical insulation equipment (14) experiences during operation. A comparator module (09) connected with Fast-Transient Surge Generation Device (FTSGD) (08). {FIGURE 1 & 2}
