MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641102343 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on August 25, 2026, for A Device And Method For Patient-Specific Root Analogue Implants With Optimized Micro-Thread Architecture.

Inventors include Queen Alice A; Arul Jeyakumar A; and S V Kirthanashri.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The invention discloses a patient-specific root analogue implant device and an associated fabrication method, designed to simultaneously address anatomical incompatibility, inadequate primary stability, and elevated crestal bone stress inherent in existing dental implant technologies. By integrating exact replication of the patient's natural tooth root geometry, derived from cone-beam computed tomography imaging data, with a computationally optimized gradient micro-thread surface architecture, the invention achieves precise conformity to the extraction socket while distributing biomechanical loads in a physiologically favorable pattern. The gradient thread design reduces crestal bone stress by at least 50 percent and limits bone-implant micromotion to less than 50 micrometers under functional loading, enabling immediate or early loading protocols. Fabricated through additive manufacturing using biocompatible structural materials and finalized through controlled post-processing, the device delivers enhanced osseointegration, long-term marginal bone preservation, and improved clinical predictability for single-tooth replacement applications.
