MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541110424 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on November 12, 2025, for A Device And Method For Managing Sinusitis Through Photo-Biomodulation And Mechanical Vibration.
Inventor includes Rohit Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a wearable multimodal biomodulation device (100) and a method for sinusitis treatment. Conventional sinusitis management relies on pharmacological interventions including antibiotics and corticosteroid nasal sprays, associated with antimicrobial resistance, adverse effects, and recurrent treatment failure. The wearable multimodal biomodulation device (100) comprises a mask body (101) configured to be worn on a facial region of a user, a control interface (103) for user-selectable mode selection, a processing unit (105) generating a corresponding activation signal, a photo-biomodulation unit (107) emitting light toward one or more facial regions to stimulate cellular activity and reduce inflammation, and a plurality of vibration units (109) generating mechanical oscillations to loosen mucus and promote sinus drainage. The processing unit (105) selectively activates the photo- biomodulation unit (107), the plurality of vibration units (109), or both simultaneously, thereby delivering synergistic biomodulatory action across the one or more facial regions for treatment of sinusitis.
