Abstract: ABSTRACT A deterministic system (100) for cross-modal geometric material fingerprinting is disclosed. An XRD processing module (110) and an HRTEM processing module (120) generate respective structured geometric feature sets from raw XRD and HRTEM data. A reference-matching module (130) ranks candidate crystallographic phases using external crystallographic references, HRTEM geometric evidence and available composition constraints, and a cross-modal agreement engine (140) deterministically evaluates compatibility between the feature sets without a trained machine-learning classification model. A fingerprint generation module (150) assembles a machine-readable MatPrint retaining discrepancy warnings and phase-specific evidence, and a similarity-search module (160) ranks structural analogues. A functional-hypothesis evaluation module (200) evaluates condition-matched functional measurements, including electrochemical or spectroscopic measurements, as supporting, contradicting or leaving unresolved a proposed identity, relationship, pathway or mechanism, including through pre-operation and post- operation comparison where available with the aid of sub-modules for each layer/modality within the functional-hypothesis evaluation module (200).
